For your consideration, an oil on canvas painting of a rural scene in the American School manner, signed “E. Barker” “48”. The work features an impressionist inspired aesthetic in which luminous forms of clouds and architectural details are portrayed in a muted and subtle color palette of blues, whites, earth tone browns, and greens. The unframed painting is in excellent condition with no paint loss or damage, and measures 16” x 14”. This circa 1948 work was acquired in Northern California and is possibly by Earle Wright Barker. Barker was born in New York on Jan. 10, 1887, and by the mid-1930s Barker had settled in San Francisco where he taught in the public schools. He died in San Mateo, CA on Jan. 4, 1949.
