Kestner Baby with All Original Outfit 17" marked only with "14" - this is the JDK style which is often not marked with the letters. He is beautifully created as Kestner was a master of smooth bisque heads. In addition, the All Original clothing makes Him a rare character.
The bisque dome head is perfect without rubs, damage or repairs. The bisque is super clean with bright, even coloring. The head has been inspected with multiple light sources and a jewelers loop - there are no hairlines. The face has one stroke, fly away eyebrows, perfect painted lashes, an open closed mouth and bright blue eyes. The eyes are set in the head - perfect alignment. It is possible that they were set on making or maybe a later date. They fit the eye cuts perfectly and are the original eyes.
The body fits the head perfectly and is heavy weight and chunky. The arms have a bit of old touch up. The legs have blushing on the knees and feet and the red definitions lines between the toes. There is a minor touch up on the left heel probably from 100 years of pressure to the spot.
His clothes are charming. There is a flannel jacket with blue crochet trim and a knitted diaper with the same blue accent. There old ribbon for closing the garments are present. There is an added antique bonnet of silk and lace. The doll's hair is super smooth and without rubs and is just as pretty without the bonnet.
This doll is even prettier in person. The stringing is appropriate and the doll sits well independently. He will come with an antique bone and silver teething ring so he doesn't keep you up nights.
It's always a bonus to have the original outfit from so long ago.
