Here is an unusual piece that might leave some scratching their heads. To clarify, I have included a picture taken from page 255 of the book "Art Glass of Murano 1910-1970" where Marc Heireman notes under the old picture the following:
"Model Nos. unknown. In 1947, at the first post-war Triennial, the theme was "functional shapes". Paolo Venini's contribution was ironic, to say the least, by has translation of objects for daily use into glass."
A close comparison of the muskets pictured with this piece is shows significant similarities. The musket is skillfully and painstakingly detailed, including a golden inner muzzle and carefully crafted florets.
The light blue glass has a mirror like sheen due to the metallic interior of the muzzle. This great conversation piece is in excellent condition.
