This piece is amazing. Finely enamelled butterflies and flowers cover this pedestal bowl made in Bohemia around 1915 at the Fachschule Steinschonau glass school (either by professor Adolf Beckert or by Alfred Walter). This tour de force of surface design on clear blown glass is wonderful to look at closely and repeatedly. This larger piece is also relatively rare for it's size.
Hard to categorize it as secessionist, art nouveau or deco because it has elements of all of those styles. As decor, it also works great in contemporary settings.
The condition of the piece is excellent with only minor gilding loss around the rim (pictured), as would be consistent with the age of the piece. There are no glass chips or scratches on the piece.
