Koloman Moser, a primary leader of the Wiener Werkstatte in Vienna at the turn of the last century, designed this proto modern bowl. It's a bit shocking to think that this very contemporary looking object is well over a hundred years old. In this case, Moser's adherence to simple shapes and a black/white colour scheme was well ahead of his times. Made by Loetz, the quality of the workmanship is great, and the condition of this early production piece is excellent. This series is documented in "Hochschule Fur Angewandte Kunst in Wien" by Werner Fenz, page 80.
These pieces are very hard to find.
