Milena Veliskova was an architect and a leading glass designer in midcentury Czechoslovakia. Among other honours, she was the winner of the Grand Prize at the 1958 Brussels Universal Exposition as well as the Gold Medal from the 1959 Munich International Handwerkmesse. Her specialty was hand blown glass, which tends to look more italian than czech in style. This vase features coloured pieces of Mica floating in bubbled glass. It is difficult to find these pieces. The bottom is inscribed "Veliskova" and the piece is in excellent condition with no issues. Very beautiful and unique.
