Dale Chihuly's Tabac Basket series was an early production from c. 1979. His production capacity for this series was much more limited than more recent series as his team was significantly smaller in those early days. The Tabac colour and blue glass trailings are consistent with his inspiration from native american woven baskets. Every piece uniquely draws from a mix of techniques and all share a casualness of form akin to a thinly woven basket.
Included with purchase is a small book/CD set entitled Chihuly Baskets. I have pictured this vase with some of photographs in the book for reference.
The vase is in excellent condition with no issues.
A wonderful example of an early piece by the world's most prominent living glass artist.
