This antique (c. 1880) Salviati pitcher is covered in aventurine with alternating wide stripes of transparent green added so the glass really shimmers.. Applying aventurine so profusely is an unusual technique that creates a very interesting and pleasing result. The pitcher is well detailed, including a clear glass lion head at the base of the handle. The handmade feeling of the piece adds to it's character. The vase is in excellent condition with no issues. A great example of classic Murano craftsmanship.
