Pavel Hlava from Czechoslovakia first designed the Monolith line of art glass in 1957 and displayed pieces at the Milan Triennale in that year as well. There are a wide range of colours and variants that have been produced over the years, and this one is uniquely elegant due to its combination of frosted/matte and smooth clear glass surrounding a blue core. The vase is also finished with a rounded top, which sets it apart from the more common squared edge versions. Some times these vases are coloured too garishly, but this one is gorgeous. The vase is etch-signed and also labled. It is in excellent condition with no issues. It is a fine piece of heavily leaded crystal glass that makes a refined visual statement.
