This pendant is a great example of end of 19th century trend in jewelry.
Elaborate design of the pendant incorporates total of 21 rose cut diamonds.
The largest diamond, approx 5 mm across, set in crimped bezel mount in the center.
The rose cut diamonds radiate a soft glitter under candle light of the ballrooms.
Typically for the time the back of the pendant is gold
and the front is sterling for better color fit to the diamonds
especially with natural silver patina.
The pendant would not be completed without natural pearl dangles
also very popular at the time. The central pearl is 8 mm diameter.
The side pearls are just under 4mm.
The whole pendant is 1 7/8” high including the bail, which
has a diamond of its own.
The width of the brooch is 1 1/2”.
Total weight is 7.4 grams.
The brooch is unmarked.
Gold is tested 14K.
The pendant is also equipped with trombone clasp
for use as a brooch.
Excellent antique condition.
