Jewelry has always carried symbolism in it. One of the highly used symbols in jewelry has a form of belt/buckle. Rings and bracelets of the shape of the buckle were highly popular in the 19th century as symbols of eternal bond of love.
Presented eye catching ring has a 14K gold top, measured 5/8" X 1/2". Gold buckle is accented with a line of prong set seed pearls. The "belt" is made of bezel set beveled jet glass with 2 bezel set seed pearl "rivets". The 6.5 size 14K gold band was added when used to be stick pin had been converted to the ring. The ring's weight is 3.6 grams, there is no hallmark, 14K gold acid tested. Overall, it is in very good antique condition. One side of the jet glass has a crack which stays securely in the ring and is not conspicuous when on a finger. It can be viewed on the last picture which has a significant magnification (8 to 10 times larger on my 19" screen). I needed to set a special lighting in order to reveal this flaw.
