Presented is very rare cuff bracelet made in Victoria period, C.1860. There are two shiny gold inlay bands around the bracelet with chased embellishments at the hinge and the clasp The gold safety chain is intact and the clasp closes securely with nice click. The hinge is stable with slight wobbling. It is very common with similar bracelets due to the hinge is very narrow. The bangle opening measures 2" X 1 5/8, or 5 3/4" circumference. It is 5/8" wide. The bracelet is good for a petite wrist as smaller women were more common at the period.
Excellent vintage condition commensurate with age.
Vulcanite is a material made from vulcanized sap of trees which grow in the Pacific Rim (then mixed with sulfur and heated). The bracelet has warm dark chocolate color.
