Mourning jewelry was in vogue after Queen Victorian's loss of
loved Prince Albert.
Presented is a very special and rare vulcanite locket belonging to a long gone era when
people wore sentimental items in memory of diseased loved ones.
It was made around 1860-1880's.
The top of the locket adorned with elaborately curved high relief fuchsia flower.
There is one photo compartment covered with original transparent glass
in brass bezel. The other compartment has a brass bezel only.
The locket measures 1 3/4" long, 1 3/8" wide, 7/8" thick.
The locket closes securely.
