Antique Georgian gold wash sterling watch key with ruby paste seal
was made around 1820’s.
It is shaped elegantly with one side adorned with repousse floral pattern and carving over it.
The beveled round ruby paste completes this end of the key.
The back of the paste is faceted and foiled.
The other end of the key has a bail attached possibly at the end of 19th century
when it was common to give new life to Georgian jewelry.
The watch key is 1 9/16” long, 3/8” wide.
It is not hallmarked, tested sterling silver.
Silver plated brass chain was added around the same time as the bail.
The chain is 25 1/2” long. It ends with a bolt clasp.
Total weight of the necklace is 12.7 grams.
The gold wash on the watch key is partially worn out,
so is the silver plating on the chain.
Very good antique condition commensurate with age.
Antique jewelry box shown for display only.
