Collectable finely wrought Victorian Neoclassic sterling chatelaine C 1890.
This remarkable chatelaine draws attention by it's top with intricate
die cast face of Satyr a Greek mythical creature surrounded with curving floral patterns.
3 chains with equally finely crafted links end with dog clips for hanging little objects.
The clip has a full array of English sterling hallmarks:
-Young Queen Victoria's head profile - duty mark used from 2nd December 1784 to 30th April 1890
-Anchor and lion for Birmingham assay office
-Letter P in old English script in oval for year 1890
-Maker hallmark GU for George Unite, Caroline Street in Birmingham.
The chatelaine is approx. 6 1/2" top to bottom
with 2" X 1 3/4" face and 4" and 4 1./2" chains.
Total weight is 38.2 grams.
Excellent antique condition.
