This unusual ethnic or tribal look necklace probably dates from the 1970s when there was a clearly defined fashion for such jewellery and also a fondness for such natural looking materials as faux ivory.
This is a longer length necklace and can be worn flapper style or doubled around the neck as seen on the mannequin. The beads are made from lightweight composition simulating ivory and have small gold metallic spacers between.
These beautiful ornaments are very wearable with today's fashions and would be particularly suitable adding interest to a safari style outfit.
TRIBAL, ETHNIC SAFARI STYLE
For jewelry with a global edge you simply cant beat the exotic look of large tribal style beads in bright clashing colours often combined with metals such as brass. Tribal style is not for the faint hearted and often featured in bold statement pieces to enhance a simple outfit.
A little more subdued is the so called safari style which combines materials such as wood, bone, bamboo and seeds in muted tones of brown, amber ad cream.
