Here is a pretty rhinestone studded crown or tiara, which probably dates from the mid 20th century. The ornament may originally have been for theatrical or costume use. However it would make an ideal headdress for a bride who likes the vintage look!

The basis of the design is silver tone metal. It is made in a classic arcaded design which is encrusted with prong set clear rhinestones. A comb secures the ornament firmly in position in the hair.

This is certainly a very beautiful and classic tiara, not too large or showy for modern taste. It would make an ideal bridal headdress

One of the signature “looks” of the mid 20th century was a style which we call Hollywood Regency, and which was pure glamour and glitz. Hollywood Regency is an American style which is sometimes known outside the USA as neo-Baroque. It evokes all the glitz and glamour of old Hollywood movies, hence the name.

In hair accessories and jewellery it is usually characterised by elaborate designs featuring bold settings of rhinestones, intermixed with coloured stones and/or faux pearls in elaborate gold or silver tone settings. Some of the most beautiful and high quality jewellery and hair ornaments in this style were produced in the USA. We can say that the influence of Hollywood and the great screen goddesses of the 1940s and 1950s were of great significance in promoting this larger than life look.
