Here is a pair of classic amber resin Japanese kanzashi style hair combs with the asymmetrical styling that is typical of the type. Each is decorated with a moulded modernistic design and a rhinestone decal.

The sturdy construction and split prongs indicate a date in the 1970s – 1980s.

Kanzashi is a kind of umbrella term which covers Japanese hair ornaments of many types. Hairpins such as these were usually stuck into the coiffure in such a way that the ornamental heading or top stood out proud from the hairdressing by several inches.
