A fine theatrical crown headdress in silver tone metal with rhinestones
CONDITION: good vintage condition with expected wear
SIZE: 2 ins h x 7 ins diameter (5 x 18 cm). Adjustable to different sizes.
APPROXIMATE DATE: early to mid century
MATERIALS: metal, rhinestones
The headdress is based upon a foundation of repousee silver tone metal with a design of leaves, trefoils and chubby scrolls. Leaf like motifs occupy the centre front and are set with clear glass stones. In spite of its rich and opulent appearance the headdress is quite light in weight and not too heavy to wear.
The tiara has a band which is flexible and therefore adjustable to different head measurements.
I believe this coronet may have been intended as a theatrical headdresses, or possibly for a bride. It is difficult to date because of the classic styling. However I would place it somewhere from 1930s – 1950s.
It would be ideal for a vintage bride who was looking for something different. It would also be ideal for historical pageants, LARP, renaissance fayres or other dress up occasions.
