Here is a pretty late Victorian or Edwardian demi-parure featuring a pendant and brooch which are framed in cut steel scroll work. The ceramic plates are hand painted with typical romantic pastoral scenes in the manner of the times.
Cut steel jewelry is considered typical of the Victorian period and continued in use until the end of the 19th century. The later pieces show a reduction in quality and cannot be compared with those produced earlier. However this pretty demi-parure shows an attractive combination of two different materials. It comes from a small collection of cut steel jewellery and hair ornaments which is shown in the last picture.
