What an interesting grouping of miniatures. These were made during the 1920's as novelties for a ladies sitting room. Hertwig made well over a 1000 of these tiny novelties and these were more than likely made by Hertwig. All are made from bisque and in good shape- no breaks or cracks. The 3 chairs are stamped Germany and approx. 7/8" tall. The little girl with the watering can is hand painted and approx. 2 1/4" tall. The girl lying on her side while reading her book is incised "Japan" and approx.1 3/4" long ( obliviously this was not made by Hertwig - the Japanese were very eager to cut into the market by making similar items at a cheaper price ). I purchased all 5 pieces together- more than likely this was a grouping in someone's sitting room. Any questions please e- mail. Thank you for your interest!
