This is a very large (16.5 inches)Vintage Nishi Japanese doll...it is a very elaborate and finely detailed Nishi. She is mounted to a large wood platform and is a stunning conversation piece. Her Kimono(robe)is a very detailed rich red and gold with a black and gold checkered Obi(sash).
I believe her to be made entirely of silk, her face is beautifully detailed and painted.
She wears a very wide black and gold hat with red lining and she has very ornate curled ribbon as well as a tassel in her hair. She is clutching a wisteria branch in her left hand that rests on her shoulder and comes around to her right side where she holds the blooms in her right hand.
This doll is in excellent condition and there are no rips or snags, but there is some fading to her flowers and wear to her case, please refer to photo's.
Fujimusume", "This is a scene from a Japanese Kabuki drama. This doll is supposed to portray the Spirits of wisteria flower."
Her stand measures 7"x8.5" and her case measures 10"x13"x21"
