Exquisite Quality Meiji Japanese Satsuma(1868 - 1912), The Kinkozan factory closed in 1927. The design is a heavy jeweled and beaded enameling at the rim, neck and base . It has a lovely Japanese floral bouquet on the front and blossomed branches on the back, and are hand enameled in blue, green, red and yellow. It has a pierced beautiful jeweled bronze lid of purple and bright green gems, ( I am unsure of the stones).
This earthenware piece is in very good condition, with the fine crackling in the glaze which characterizes Satsuma. A beautiful example of Japanese Satsuma in excellent condition. No chips
It is stamped on the base in red ink with the Kinkozan Tsukuru mark, and "NIPPON".
The vase stands 8" high x 6" diameter.
A bright and lovely piece, interesting subject matter, very decorative.
