Layaway available. What a find! This is a wonderful and very hard to find early, 13 " tall Raleigh all composition doll. These dolls range circa 1916-1920 and were made to last. Very heavy sturdy composition and SPRING-STRUNG these jointed toddler dolls are works of art. They were modeled by Jessie McCutcheon Raleigh, Chicago, Ill. and distributed by Butler Bros. and possibly a few other stores. This beautiful girl has deeply molded and painted original facial features with distinctive painted blue eyes. Her face has lots of detail with molded eyelids and the trademark upswing painted eyelash and distinctive trademark painted brow. She has an open/closed mouth with teeth. Very heavy composition arms and legs with chubby, distinctive hands in fists and flat feet, a solid torso, arms and slant hips. She has crazing and some paint splits as can be seen in photos but is generally in very good condition for her age. Has a repair to one of her upper arms. It is an incredibly well done job and the arm looks great and repair is completely covered by her clothing. Please use zoom so you can see her well. Doll is sturdy and display ready. Has small compo loss to hairline on right side of face. Typical rubs, dings from age and time. Raleigh dolls are really works of art that were designed under the direction of Mrs. Raleigh by students of the Chicago Art Institute in sizes ranging from 11" - 18" tall. They are extremely hard to find and very collectible. This is a wonderful example of a very rare doll that is display ready. Truly a wonderful rare find. Layaway available.
