Exquisite fabric and beautifully made. This lovely débutante party dress combined elegant style with ethereal design. It was made sometime around 1930. The dress was sewn from pale pink embroidered silk chiffon and has an off white taffeta under slip. Slight V-neck with a filmy capelet stitched to the neckline and long ties; sleeveless, fitted bodice, tiered flounced skirt. The embroidery was also in silk and has a plum or apple blossom branch motif. Pictures don't do justice. Gusset stitches, overcast seams and chiffon edges, hook and eye side closure. Made for a small slender woman; measured flat it is about 14 in. shoulder to shoulder, 15 in. underarm to underarm, 14 in. across the waist, 15 1/2 in. shoulder to waist and 45 1/2 in. shoulder to hem. Small stain on chiffon at one side; both under slip side seams torn, taffeta a bit brittle. Bit dusty. Even so, this is a fantastic example of early 20th century dress making.
