Elegant and exquisitely made. This lovely wedding shawl was hand woven from gold metallic and silk thread. It features wide bands of gold boteh and fringe at the ends; the body of the wrap is sheer and was woven with a leafy vine design.
Circa 1930-40s and has a label indicating it was made in India. Measures about 21 1/2 inches x 71 inches; fringe adds 2 inches at each end so total length is 75 inches. Well cared for and very clean. No damage to fabric although for the sake of accuracy, there are two small imperfections which occurred in the making. These are some loose thread ends and narrow folds where the embroidery thread probably ran out while on the machine and was re-threaded. They are near each other, at the lower third end of the shawl and can't be easily seen. Stunning with a white sari or gown. Stunning with a white sari or gown.
