A beautiful example of French tole work. The lamp has a classic bucolic French landscapes in black on yellow background. Originally, the lamp was made in the 19th century and meant for oil or kerosene, then converted to electric sometime around 1920-30s. Tole work applied onto a cylinder base and the burner portion was left intact. Measures about 20 1/2 inches high (the base is approximately 11 inches high). Brass base, felt covered bottom and measures about 4 1/2 inches across; two pull chain sockets (one worked when tested, the other did not). Shade missing but was barrel shape light yellow paper. With noted exception, worked when tested but needs re-wiring, missing finial. Even so, this type of lamp is very scarce and rarely comes along.
