Found in a small antique, brass studded century trunk. The collection held several doll dresses, ensembles and hats; almost all were fashioned mid-19th century style with a few from the early part of the 20th, and made from fabrics of the same period. (Photo of collection below so you can see what it looked like.) Made from a lovely embroidered dimity, this smock style dolls dress was made from an embroidered dimity type fabric. All hand stitched, including the detailed, dainty chain stitched embroidery surrounding the upper part of the dress front. Gathered neck measures about 4 in. across and 9 3/4 from neck to hem edge. Fabric is a bit yellowed probably from starching, a few very small spots.
