Great patina and form. This old carrier has seen a lot of years and makes a superb focal point in a country setting.
The carrier was made from pine and has it's original painted surface. Circa 1850-60s.
Lapped construction with two compartments separated by a tombstone handle. Different types of nails including cut wire hold the joints together. Warm original surface patina and has a single board bottom.
Measures about 9 inches x 24 3/4 inches and stands about 9 3/4 inches high at the crest.
As you might expect after so many years, there is wear to the surface, some scrapes, scratches and stains.
Even so, the large size and convenient compartments make this a perfect carrier for pine boughs, poinsettia, herbs, primroses or other seasonal flowers or foliage.
