Strong lines and unusual technique. This painting was well done and is artist signed. The subject is horses and titled "The Young One" (written on the back). It evokes a cave painting and probably painted in the 1940-50s. The artist used an oil wash technique on canvas and a palette of ochre, gold, orange and black pigment. Signed in lower right corner with the name Eunice; also written on the back it says Eunice Burg Oil. Linen mat border and nicely framed; frame is wooden and stained a metallic gold silver and copper color. Canvas measures about 16 inches x 20 inches; frame is approximately 22 1/2 inches x 26 1/2 inches, inner opening around 15 1/2 inches x 19 1/2 inches. Excellent condition but washes can be brittle and fragile and a small patch of paint has flaked off in the upper left corner. A fine addition to Moderne decor.
