I am pleased to offer for sale a vintage timepiece from the Bulova. “PRESIDENT” model that dates to 1952 and is in excellent original condition. There were a number of President models over the years, beginning in the late 1920s and continuing on to the late 1950s. While they were in a variety of designs they all had one thing in common – being “Flagship” models and typically featuring the company’s finest wristwatch mechanism (in this case a 21 jewel movement.
‘President’ model rectangular shaped case accentuated with stylized curved ribs to the centre of the case and curvaceous lugs mounting the band. Original & signed ‘Bulova’ and topped off with a new thick acrylic crystal. The 10kt gold plated bezel and stainless steel case back have been cleaned & repolished. In general, the case has only slight wear/scratches present commensurate with the age of the watch. Triple-signed (dial, case twice & mechanism), it measures 34mm lug tip to lug tip and 25mm in width. With the original Bulova signed crown. The inside case lid is stamped BULOVA – FIFTH AVE – NEW YORK.
The original Bulova band , 1/20 12K GF tops with stainless back is in excellent condition and is 6" and will expand larger. The band had been cleaned and sterilized.
The original eye-catching silver finish 2-tone triangular design hourglass dial is in great shape with a little patina near the five and one. It features a crisp raised 18K gold hour and minute numbers with original gold hands. Signed BULOVA, minute chapter and sub-second dial are in black.
A sunken seconds dial is at 6 o'clock. The crystal is in excellent condition.
BULOVA high quality Swiss manual wind movement. This is a fine classic 10BM calibre with 21 jewels and date stamped ‘L2’ for 1952. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted, and at the time of listing is running well keeping good time ready to wear.
This is a beautiful example of a rare vintage Bulova watch that is almost 68 years old.
