The movement 3/4 plate movement is an 6 size, 15 jewel and is engraved with: Elgin National Watch Co. U.S.A 1468905 NOTE: (the serial # indicates the estimated manufacture date of 1883) It is stem wound and lever set at the 4 o’clock position. Having been carefully cleaned and timed by our staff, we can confirm that this pocket watch is still running strong and keeping accurate time.
Absolutely outstanding fancy dial in pristine condition. The porcelain dial that is signed by the renown ELGIN is amazingly free of any visible hairlines or cracks! This easy-to-read dial features gold Louis XV hands, Alpha numeric numbers and is surrounded by minute marks on the outer most chapter ring along with the multi-tone fancy dial. A sub seconds dial obscures the 6 o’clock position and has numbered markers at each 10 second. Louis XV hands are 14K gold and truly get your attention as they glimmer with slightest movement.
Because of its antique lineage, the wear it displays simply embraces the spirit of its era and distinguishes this piece even more. The Elgin watch has a very ornate floral motif, engraved enamel on both front and back. A engraving on the front say DAC to CIO, DEC 1884 25. This pocket watch is fitted with a raised Lucite plastic crystal with rounded edges. Case measurements are approximately 45 mm non inclusive of the pendant & round-style crown
