The Edgewater is one of my favorite designs. The styling is clean and distinctive, with a two-tone face, raised gold letters, a sub-second hand, and dramatic lines on the case. The watch was built to last, with a 4 screw back and a gasket to keep dust out of the 17 jewel (caliber 674) movement. This watch also included Elgin’s “Durapower” mainspring — a stronger, longer lasting mainspring. True to form, this watch is still working great and keeping excellent time.
The mechanism has been cleaned, manual wind movement durapower, signed ELGIN USA, 17 JEWELS, ADJ'D, [Grade] 674. The inside of the case lid is signed Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co., Star Watch Case Company, This watch has an unbreakable mainspring that Elgin developed for watches that needed to be used on a daily basis with virtually trouble-free power delivery. They called it "Durapower" and used a logo for it that you can see just under the Elgin name. The "Shockmaster" appellation, that you can see just above the seconds bit, refers to special "kif" springs that were used to lessen any blows that occurred under daily operation.
The refurbished silver, satin enamel finished dial is in mint condition. It features with concentric raised squares. raised gold Arabic numerals at 12 3 6 9, original gold metal Dauphine-style hands and a sub-seconds dial with sweep original gold seconds hand. Signed ELGIN below the 12, Durapower symbol and Shockproof above the 6.
This Elgin wristwatch is Quadruple-signed and has a 10K yellow gold filled top and a stainless back (for longevity and hypo-allergenic properties). The case is 26mm x 38mm not including the crown. Something unique about this model. The case back screws into the bezel and there are washers for the crystal and the case back to make it waterproof, which is how it was advertised. I would not test it after 54 years!!! The case back is engraved with Shock, Dust and Magnetism, Durapower Mainspring, 10K RGP ( Rolled Gold Press) Stainless Steel Back.
The watch come with the original outer and inter box with all the original paper work
I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order.
Also, I offer a refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven day's. (shipping is not refundable)
A 3 month layaway option is available. There is no restocking fee or cancellation fee's if things don't work out. A complete refund of payments upon cancellation.
