Spectacular Victorian gold-filled watch chain, heavy – weighing 51.5 grams! The swivel is stamped “Simmons” – the company was first established in 1873 and were famous for their watch chains. The chain is 18 ½-inches long, with multiple links, making it ¼ inch thick. It is complete with a T-Bar that is in very good condition.
One of the FOBS is a beautiful 1 1/8-inch round LOCKET. On the front is a small gold crown, with 5 tiny cabochon rubies or garnets. The back is smooth gold. Inside is the maker's hallmark – “W&SB”, for the William and Samuel Blackinton Co., established in 1868. It is also stamped “1/4 gold shell” – meaning, I assume, that the outside shell of the locket is 25% gold. Most gold-fill is 1/20 or 1/10 gold. The 2 frames are intact, and there is one old photo.
The wax seal FOB is 1-inch tall. The wax-seal plate is 15/16-inch wide, and has not been engraved. It is ready for your own signet.
The addition of the FOB DROP of the locket, wax-seal fob, and T-bar, adds approximately 3 inches.
This superb antique watch chain necklace, with fobs, is in very good condition, with only tiny scratches on the locket that form the age-appropriate patina. It is ready to wear or to add to your collection!
To make this strictly a watch chain, just add your antique pocket watch!
