I'm no wristwatch historian, just an admirer of cool timepieces and appreciate mid century design. Here is an unusual Wittnauer in a round case. This watch is part of the Longines - Wittnauer partnership which existed between 1936 and 1994.
The dial is simple matte black with grey specks and white lines running in quadrants. The dial looks to be of stone, however I haven't been able to identify the type. There is a single diamond at the 12:00 position, "Wittnauer" at the 9:00 position and "Automatic" at 3 o'clock. The date and day is located at 6 o,clock with a quick set feature. To set the date you pull and push the crown until the date is correct.
The watch is excellent condition with very little signs of wear, except for a barely visible tiny scratch at 7 o'clock The dial and hand are original and in fantastic shape.
Case bezel is in great shape with gold plate and absolutely no wear. The back of the watch is Stainless steel with a dedication "JMP 12-25-76 Case measures 40mm round including the crown. The crown is somewhat reset in the bezel.
Movement required a few repairs, now it has been fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is marked "Wittnauer Watch Co. Seventeen 17 Jewels Unadjusted Swiss".
It comes fitted with a NOS black leather, 18mm wide bracelet
