Alice Richheimer Culbert Wolk (Alice Culbert) (American, 1911-1991) Abstract welded metal sculpture. Circa 1975. Unsigned. Measures approx 85in height x 43 x width x 27in depth. Weighs approx 75 lbs. Condition: nicks and scratches to black paint revealing orange base coat underneath. Chicago native who became a nationally known sculptor in metal, professionally she was known as Alice Culbert. Her many works are located in schools, temples, banks and offices throughout the Chicago area, including the Woodstock Cultural Center, Judson College in Elgin and Kankakee Community College. Her religious pieces are exhibited at Temple Menorah, 2800 W. Sherwin,and Temple B'nai Torah in Highland Park. Culberts sculptures also are found in the Peace Museum in Hiroshima, Japan, and the New Orleans Community Center.
