Nicely rendered oil painting on canvas. An early 20th century copy of a head study for the central Pharisee in Van Dyck’s “Tribute Money”. Wrongly attributed to “Reubens” (sic) at the Prado on the reverse side by a well-meaning descendant of the painter. Apparently the original study this emulates was long lost in the museum storage and re-discovered in 2004. Framed in carved gilt wood frame. Measures 20in x 17in framed and 17.5in x 14.5in image only. Condition: painting in good condition, frame has several chips to finish.
