Christopher Pelley (American, 20th/21st C.) “Study for Golden Apples of the Hesperides #4”, 1987, oil painting on canvas in mixed media sculptural frame. Wooden frame with a three-dimensional orange on a branch within a Classical arch and having painted faux marble finish. Signed, dated and titled verso. These first fruits from the Hesperides were called golden apples yet were in reality oranges a fruit that was unknown at the time. Measures about 33in height x 24in width x 6in depth. Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
