Pair of ovular open salts with flanking dove and olive branch-form handles joined by a die-rolled border, cinched waist, raised on a ovular foot. Faded monogram on fronts possibly “P” or “D”. Made by Gorham, Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1860. Marked on bottom with Gorham (lion-anchor-G) trademark and the numerals “240” Measures 2-1/4 x 4-1/2 x 2 inches (5.7cm x 11.4cm x 5.1cm). Weight: 5.2 troy ounces. Condition: small deep dent front of one about ⅛” long. Poppy seed sized soft deft to other to the left of monogram, some minor light scratches overall noticeable under scrutiny.
