Madeleine Flaschner (French b. 1933) Stylized Circus performer sitting on stool with shirt open, oil painting on canvas, circa 1960’s, signed top right. Unframed, stretched on wood stretchers. Measures: 13in x 8.5in. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Flaschner was born in 1933 at Paris, she is the daughter of artist Alexandre Flaschner. She studied painting at the studio of Edouard Goerg. She studied with Narbonne for painting and with Goerg for engraving. She was a founder of the group Pointe and Burin. During this time she rendered her interpretations of circus life behind the scenes at the Médrano Circus. In 1988 she was nominated for the society of the "Salon d'Automne", winning the "Médaille d'Or aux Artistes Français" and receiving the Institutes Chassériau Prize.
