Awesome 1920’s Advertising illustration study in gouache paint on thick paper. Depicts a an elegantly dressed family in a chauffeur driven convertible touring car asking directions of a local man. Unsigned but purchased with a group of Netta Filer’s similar signed works in the same estate. Measures 23in x 15in overall. Condition: light wear at far edges, image is in Excellent condition. Netta M. Filer lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan and is listed as an artist in the 1899 Kalamazoo City Directory, she studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1901-1902 and applied for a series of fine art copyrights in 1908-1909. The August 1902 edition of Duluth Evening mentions Filer as having designed the cover for The Pilgrim magazine.
