Watercolor gouache on thick paper depicting a cabin in the woods. Circa 1940’s. No visible signature but clearly the work of John Chester McPherson (American, 1885 - 1971) and purchased with a collection of 8 other works by the artist. McPherson worked as an architect and artist working in oils and watercolor. He lived in New York City and taught at the Art Student’s League from 1941 until 1952. He’s associated with Midtown Galleries, Audobon Society of Watercolors, a member of the Society of Independent Artist’s where he also exhibited as well as exhibiting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Measures 15.75in x 11.5in. Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
