Lovely oil painting on stretched canvas depicting a river dam with 19th century stone buildings in the background. Signed lower right “M. Sharpe”. Someone has written on the back “May Sharpe, Cedarburg” and there are the remnants of a Milwaukee exhibition label. I have not found any information on a May Sharpe but the artist here does exhibit a talented hand and great use of color. Canvas has some age to it and appears older than the framing. I’d put the painting at circa 1950’s. Framed in a gilt wood frame with linen matting. Measures 34in x 28in framed and 25.5in x 19.75in image only. Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
