Very interesting 19th century French genre painting depicting an artist hard at work on a painting perched on his easel while a whole gaggle of village folk look over his shoulder. His satchel, hat and umbrella lie in the foreground. Oil on canvas. No visible signature. Old label on back with illegible French writing on it. Measures 27in x 23in framed and 20.5in x 16.75in sight. Condition: a few random very tiny (pin prick size) white spots, possibly paint loss but looks more like the result of a careless housepainter. Very tiny and noticeably only under the utmost scrutiny. Small chips near the top right of frame corner, small hole on left side from hanging screw being overtightened.
