Jean Jansem (French-Armenian, 1920-2013) unknown title, limited edition lithograph on paper depicting a woman stooped over searching for something on the ground. Circa 1960’s. Numbered 29 of an edition of 60 and signed “Jansem” in pencil lower margin. Jean Jansem was born in 1920 in Armenia from where his family fled in 1922. He spent his childhood in Thessaloniki, Greece. The family moved to France when he was 11 and there he started painting. He graduated from the School of Arts Dératifs in 1938. He often visited the atelier of “La Grande Chaumière”, and exhibited his first oil painting at the “Salon des Indépendants” in 1939. During his lifetime Jansem exhibited his work in France (Paris, Amiens, Nantes, Avignon, Marseille, Nancy, Toulouse, Cannes, Mulhouse, Bayonville, Clermont-Ferrand...) and in other other international cities - Rome, Palermo, Lausanne, New-York, Chicago, Palm-Beach, London, Brussels, Montréal, Tokyo, Osaka, Beirut, Sao Paolo, Johannesburg, Germany, Art Expo New York and Los Angeles. Framed in wood frame under glass with brass name plate at bottom. Measures 21in x 14in framed and 12in x 9in image only. Condition: art in excellent condition, frame has a minor scratch or two.
