Embassy Grocery Corp was established in Manhattan in 1927 as a distributor of various products to grocery stores. In the age before large corporate run grocery stores, most grocery items were sold in small family run stores with only a single store or a few neighborhood locations. Embassy was founded as a wholesale grocer to distribute products to these small mom and pop stores. In 1929, Embassy began using Lucky Boy as the trademark and brand name for many of their products. For many of the small grocers in the New York area, Lucky Boy became their recognized house brand.
Yellow Garage dealer Super A Farms presents a Lucky Boy branded tin stencil. The stencil was used to mark asparagus packaging with the Lucky Boy name and identify it as being Fancy All Green Asparagus With Tips from Embassy Grocery Corp Distributors New York. The surface of the stencil is still streaked with some of the ink which was rolled onto the stencil to mark the asparagus packages. It measures 6 5\8” high and 115\8” wide. This Lucky Boy asparagus stencil will display beautifully in any country kitchen.
