The early 20th Century saw baseball firmly enshrined as our “national pastime.” While the professional teams featured Cy Young and Honus Wagner, thousands of lesser known players filled the ranks of amateur teams around the country. Many businesses sponsored semi-professional teams which traveled the local area to promote their company and products. One of the most successful of these teams was from the Remington Typewriter Works who were the Champions of Central New York in 1909. Yellow Garage’s newest dealer Doc's Country Antiques featuring the official team picture of the 1909 Remington Typewriter Works championship baseball team. The photo features head shots of the 14 players in uniform along with the team manager in the center. Each of the individual pictures remains dark and sharp with the cardboard mounting board missing one corner and having another slightly damaged corner. Neither issue affects the photo. The mounting board is embossed with the name of the photographer who created the photo collage. It measures 14” X 12” while the actual photo measures 9.5” X 7.5”.
