Offered by The Yellow Garage dealer Hugh Luck of Pine Street Studios is this circa 1870’s Bush Manufacturing parlor kaleidoscope. This antique kaleidoscope is filled with colored glass specially chosen to to produce beautiful patterns. The glass pieces were the most notable feature of Bush kaleidoscopes. The glass was a mixture of solid and liquid filled colored glass. The liquid filled glass contained air bubbles that continued to move even when the glass was at rest. The metal tube has a brass turning mechanism and is leather clad. The kaleidoscope sits on a turned wooden stand with a round base. The overall condition is very good with wear commensurate with age. This C. G. Bush & Co. parlor kaleidoscope is widely considered to be the best kaleidoscope manufactured at the time.
