Here is a very rare double compartment Mid-Century Modern Myles Original Lucite purse or handbag dating to the 1950’s. It measures 4 ½” high plus an additional 4 ¼” high with the handle for a total of 8 ½” high by 7” wide by 4” deep. The butterscotch colored Lucite has very thin hand painted light brown striations of color giving the purse a rich reflective glow. This rare double compartment purse has the Myles Original logo stamped inside the top compartment that includes a mirror and was made for Saks Fifth Avenue. The Artistic Display Company located in Miami Florida was the first Lucite bag manufacturer to design and produce Myles Original handbags beginning in the late 1940’s and into the 1950’s. This purse has a distinctive highly recognizable double closure patented by Myles Originals with 3 orbs and a rod with this particular purse having an additional Lucite hinge that swings up and snaps closed the top compartment. The purse is in very good vintage condition with all its original hardware and has no cracks, chips or fogging. It does have some very light surface scratches mostly on the interior and bottom which are consistent with age and use being mentioned to be accurate. This rare Myles Original handbag is gorgeous in person and would make a great addition to any women’s wardrobe or pocketbook collection.
