Here is a gorgeous Mid-Century Modern Charles Kahn carved Lucite and plastic purse handbag with carved Lucite handle and plastic confetti body dating to the 1950’s. It measures 8” wide by 4 ½” deep 3 ½” high without the handle and 9” high including the handle. Designed and manufactured in Miami Florida the body is a classic example of silver confetti glitter design with a gorgeous under carved Lucite lid and handle. The design was made using hundreds of tiny chrome strips that were added to the soft polymer plastic when it was molded to its final shape. In addition, the marble black and silver grayish background was mixed in and added during final molding as well. The purse sits on 4 small Lucite button feet which protects the bottom from scratching and has all original brass hardware. The snap locking mechanism is firm and tight and the black interior has the original stick on label Charles Kahn Miami Florida. This purse is in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks and the Lucite top and handle are very clean and clear. I also want to mention that there is a very slight bowing of the ends of the back top of the purse where it meets the lid as shown in the last photograph. I believe this was is in the original manufacturing since the lock is mounted perfectly vertical and works smoothly and tightly. Looking inside the purse there are some light surface scratches which is normal with age and usage but the exterior looks really smooth and clean and gently used with no heavy scratches whatsoever. This rare Mid-Century Modern purse is magnificent in person and would make a great addition to any women’s wardrobe or purse collection.
